14th February 2023 — Oberon Americas today announced the successful completion of MPS Monitor’s System and Organization Controls 2 Type 2 (SOC 2® Type 2) examination, which included compliance with CSA Star Level 2 CCM requirements. In January 2023, the renewal of its ISO/IEC 27001 certificate was also successful.
MPS Monitor’s certified compliance with these three top security standards demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the highest levels of security and privacy for its customers via a holistic approach to Print Security, with the goal of providing the industry with the most secure cloud infrastructure for remote monitoring and management of print devices.
SOC 2 Type 2 Examination
Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SOC 2 examination is designed for organizations of any size, regardless of industry and scope. Achieving this accreditation confirms that the information assets of a company, its customers and partners are securely protected. SOC 2 reports are recognized globally and affirm that a company’s infrastructure, software, people, data, policies, procedures and operations have been formally reviewed, to make sure that adequate security controls are in place and are effective.
Since being certified for the first time with the ISO/IEC 27001 standard back in 2017, MPS Monitor has always looked for ways to improve its Information Security Management System, and to further strengthen its security posture. In 2021 it achieved its first compliance with SOC 2 Type 1 Trust Services Criteria. The latest achievement of SOC 2 Type 2 is much more stringent than SOC 2 Type 1, as Type 2 verifies the effectiveness of security controls over a period of one year, and not only on a certain date.
CSA Star Level 2 Attestation
In addition to SOC 2 Type 2, a CSA Star Level 2 Attestation was also attained. The CSA Star Program is promoted by the Cloud Security Alliance and ensures compliance with Cloud Control Matrix (CCM), a cybersecurity control framework for cloud computing. CCM is composed of 197 control objectives that are structured in 17 domains covering all key aspects of cloud technology. It can be used as a tool for the systematic assessment of a cloud implementation and provides guidance on which security controls should be implemented by which actor within the cloud supply chain. The controls framework is aligned with the CSA Security Guidance for Cloud Computing and is considered a de-facto standard for cloud security assurance and compliance.
Commenting on the announcement, Nicola De Blasi, CEO of MPS Monitor, stated: “Everything we do is centered on protecting user’s information and IT assets, so security is a fundamental component of MPS Monitor’s culture and strategy. This is increasingly important as the print market evolves towards massive usage of SaaS and cloud platforms for every aspect of the business. Certified compliance with these three standards is an extremely valuable demonstration to our customers that their security is our first priority. Our Information Security Management System, now certified as compliant to ISO/IEC 27001, to SOC 2 Type 2 and to CSA Star Level 2, provides by far the highest security profile currently available in our industry.”
Najib Nassif, Director of Technology at Valsoft Corporation, owner of MPS Monitor, said: “When we acquired MPS Monitor in 2022, we quickly realized that the company’s commitment to information security is extremely high, and these recent certifications are a further demonstration of an excellent security posture. At Valsoft, we buy and hold SaaS companies that have the ability to grow and deliver value for the long term to customers, and security is a fundamental element of any profitable and sustainable business model. We are extremely proud of the achievements that the MPS Monitor team is accomplishing in this area.”
MPS Monitor will make its SOC 2 Type 2 Report available immediately to current or potential customers through authentication to its Portal and upon e-signature of a specific non-disclosure agreement (NDA). The CSA Star attestation will be publicly available here. The updated ISO 27001 certificate is available here.

The company has collaborations with key technology industry leaders, including Microsoft, HP, Okta, Asolvi and Zebra Technologies, while some of the industry’s most respected organisations – including IDC, Quocirca and Keypoint Intelligence – have endorsed MPS Monitor’s solutions. In addition to its founding office in Milan, Italy, MPS Monitor has a presence in the UK, from where it is spearheading its global expansion plans.
MPS Monitor®, the company that develops and distributes the leading SaaS platform for the remote monitoring and management of printers and multifunctional devices, today announced the immediate availability of its new Data Collection Agent (DCA) version 4. The latest version brings a wealth of innovative and revolutionary features that are, in most cases, first to the market. Dealers and Managed Print Services providers can now benefit from instant, real-time access to devices, further integration with other market-leading solutions, and increased support and security.
DCA 4 is a complete redesign and rework of the award-winning MPS Monitor DCA. Over the last 12 years, it has been installed in more than half a million customer networks and is currently used by thousands of dealers to manage more than 1.2 million printing devices across 60 countries. To remain at the forefront of technology and provide further advanced and unique features to its customers, MPS Monitor decided on a clean-sheet redesign, using the latest IoT protocols and development environments. The new Data Collection Agent development, which took more than three years, involved a full-time and dedicated core development team.
As a result of this substantial effort, DCA 4 provides new and compelling features and functionalities, which are designed to revolutionize the way dealers and MPS providers remotely manage their print fleet:
Real-time connection: By using MQTT, one of the most modern IoT messaging protocols, DCA 4 allows direct, real-time communication between the user, the Agent, and the devices. The Agent also uses HTTP/2 – GRPC for traffic optimization and SSH for remote device access.
Device Web Access: Dealers, MPS Providers, and fleet managers can access and navigate the devices’ web pages from their browser while being located anywhere on the Internet, without the need for a remote connection to the customer’s network. The printer’s web server pages will appear in the MPS Monitor Portal’s device page in a matter of seconds, simply by clicking on a button. This feature is active on all printer brands and models. It does not require any additional access or software, and it has been thoroughly tested and certified to ensure it is highly secure.
Multi-platform: DCA 4 uses a single code base for all leading platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, Raspberry), providing the same feature set and functions, regardless of the platform’s OS. Device Web Access and other new features are available on all platforms without any difference.
Granular data collection: it is now possible to define, for each different type of data (meters, consumable levels, alerts, messages, etc.), how often each type has to be updated. Only changed data are sent to the cloud to increase the system’s efficiency and ensure real-time data management.
Optimised network discovery: a complete redesign of the discovery process allows improved stability and efficiency, while greatly simplifying the troubleshooting process in critical network environments.
Improved security: DCA 4 is built with a strict “security-by-design” approach, further mitigating the risk that the DCA could be used as an attack vector to the customer’s network. It also fully supports SNMP v3 and device authentication, to ensure maximum device security.
Better supportability: in scenarios where problems with a device’s data have been identified, MPS Monitor’s support team already has available in the system all the information needed to troubleshoot reading issues like wrong meters or levels. There’s no need anymore to contact the customer and ask for remote sessions or manual data extraction for troubleshooting purposes, bringing added convenience and speeding up problem resolution.
PaperCut integration: as previously announced, customers where a DCA 4 and a PaperCut MF/NG instance are present, can enjoy a full Business Intelligence experience on their PaperCut data from within the MPS Monitor cloud Portal, without any additional software installation nor any additional license costs.
All the above features are available immediately to all MPS Monitor users by simply installing the new DCA 4 on the network where printers are connected. DCA 4 can co-exist with the previous version 3 of the DCA – even on the same system – and all the advanced features present in version 3 are supported in DCA 4 as well. This includes the exclusive DCA Clustering feature, which minimizes downtime and ensures data collection continuity.
Current MPS Monitor users can download DCA 4 using their MPS Monitor cloud Portal accounts, while Dealers and MPS providers interested in adopting MPS Monitor and testing DCA 4 can get a free trial of the platform from Oberon Americas.

With more than 1,000,000 printing devices and 30 billion pages monitored each year on over 150,000 end users, MPS Monitor is one of the major IoT software solutions globally for monitoring printing devices and the provision of Managed Print Services. MPS Monitor provides a comprehensive SaaS platform for monitoring and managing printers, available on the cloud, and equipped with a full set of APIs for integrating external software solutions. In addition to its founding office in Milan, Italy, MPS Monitor has a presence in the UK, from where it is spearheading its global expansion plans.
The latest release from “Quocirca’s Global Print Security Landscape 2022” report reveals that many organizations struggle to keep up with print security demands in today’s hybrid work environment.
Organizations need to look at investing and ensuring that the print environment is secured to the same levels expected across any other area of the IT platform.
We at Oberon Americas, as MPS Monitor providers for the Americas Region, are excited to cite a paragraph from this report:
“MPS Monitor adopts a holistic approach to the security of the entire print environment. The platform offers a robust set of security features and capabilities to protect data, user accounts, and infrastructure; provide device security services to end customers, enable cloud print services through a secure cloud-like Microsoft Azure, as well as remote monitoring without a DCA.”
MPS Monitor integrates PaperCut data to provide print management analytics and reporting from the cloud. Dealers and customers using PaperCut now have access to pre-built dashboards and reports through the award-winning BI capabilities integrated into MPS Monitor SaaS service.
MPS Monitor®, the company that develops and distributes the leading SaaS platform for the remote monitoring and management of printers and multifunctional devices, has announced the integration of PaperCut MF and Papercut NG print management data into its Analytics BI platform. This integration aims to provide a feature-rich Business Intelligence and reporting environment to image dealers and Managed Print Services end customers who use the PaperCut MF and Papercut NG platforms for print management, job accounting, and secure printing.
MPS Monitor Analytics is a full and comprehensive BI platform designed for imaging dealers, printer resellers, and Managed Print Services providers, based entirely on Microsoft’s Power BI Embedded technology. The solution enables users to access a full BI environment from within their MPS Monitor web portal – all without the need for separate accounts, different portals, or additional licensing. Users have access to a full self-service BI experience with the ability to modify existing dashboards and reports, or they can create new ones extremely easily, without any coding or previous BI skills. The company recently announced that its BI environment had been the subject of an extensive feature published on the Customer Stories showcase of Microsoft’s global corporate site. Through the integration of data coming from PaperCut MF, MPS Monitor is substantially enriching its BI capabilities by importing into its Analytics system all the data that PaperCut is able to export using standard Data Integration features.
A typical PaperCut MF instance produces a vast amount of historical, unstructured data related to all the aspects of managed print: type and size of documents printed, users and departments who print, cost of each single print job, environmental impact of print activities and savings generated by the implementation of print policies, rules, and best practices. This valuable and extensive dataset can now be merged inside the MPS Monitor Power BI Embedded database. All the raw data generated by PaperCut MF is transformed into stunning visuals with advanced filtering and slicing features, drill-through capabilities meaningful aggregations.
The result is a massive increase in the ability to create insights and data visualizations by leveraging the power of real-time data coming from devices to analyze user behaviors, identify and compare costs, analyze printing patterns and implement optimization strategies on each print fleet where PaperCut MF or Papercut NG is active.
Dealers and Managed Print providers can take advantage of these extensive reporting and analytics capabilities to perform quarterly or monthly business reviews with their customers, who conversely may access Analytics reports and dashboards with their print usage data at any given moment, in real-time and from the cloud, by simply accessing the MPS Monitor Portal. The PaperCut MF and PaperCut NG integration does not need any additional software installation or specific setup, as it is powered by the same MPS Monitor DCA that is used to collect data and monitor printing devices. The functionality is available to all customers running the latest version of MPS Monitor DCA at no additional cost.
Commenting on this announcement, Nicola De Blasi, CEO of MPS Monitor, said: “We believe that Business Intelligence can be a real game-changer for the imaging industry. Combining in a single platform the granularity and depth of data accumulated by a PaperCut server, the power, and ease of use of Power BI Embedded, with the advantages of a cloud-only architecture, makes this integration an exceptional add-on to MPS Monitor’s overall value proposition. The benefit of this is even more compelling as it does not require any specific on-prem installation nor any additional license cost. We expect that dealers and customers using both MPS Monitor, and PaperCut will love being able to immediately enjoy the advanced BI and reporting on PaperCut, with zero extra effort.”
Stu Brookes, EMEA Head of Channel & Alliances, PaperCut, said: “In the current climate, Resellers and End Users are looking for competitive advantage, increased insight and the ability to turn data into information to help improve business decisions. The integration created by MPS Monitor allows our mutual customers to maximise their investment in both print management and fleet management, providing the BI platform that adds value at all steps in identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve digital document processes.”

The leading SaaS provider for Managed Print Services has successfully completed a SOC 2 Type 1 examination performed by A-LIGN
MPS Monitor and Oberon Americas, the company that distributes and supports the leading platform for the remote monitoring and management of printers and multifunctional devices, today announced its successful completion of its System and Organization Controls 2 Type 1 (SOC 2® Type 1) examination. The achievement is another significant endorsement of MPS Monitor’s holistic approach to Print Security, as it further validates the company’s ongoing efforts to comply with recognized industry standards and to provide the most secure cloud infrastructure for remote monitoring and management of print devices.
The independent examination, conducted by leading cybersecurity assessment firm A-LIGN, confirms that MPS Monitor’s security practices and controls meet the Trust Services Criteria for Security, Availability, and Confidentiality as of April 30th, 2021.
Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SOC 2 examination is designed for organizations of any size, regardless of industry and scope, and passing it confirms that the personal assets of their potential and existing customers are protected. SOC 2 reports are recognized globally and affirm that a company’s infrastructure, software, people, data, policies, procedures and operations have been formally reviewed.
Since being certified with the ISO/IEC 27001 standard in 2017, MPS Monitor continues to look for ways to improve its Information Security Management System, and during 2020 the company decided to test its compliance with further international security standards. With the help of the A-LIGN team, a SOC 2 testing plan was designed and approved, with the goal of completing SOC 2 Type 1 in the first half of 2021 and, as a next step, SOC 2 Type 2 after one year. With today’s announcement, the first milestone of this plan has been completed successfully.
Ty Brush, Director of EMEA and APAC at A-LIGN, said: “SOC 2 is a rigorous and prescriptive information security audit standard. Global service organizations, like MPS Monitor, are increasingly looking to SOC 2 to demonstrate the design and operating effectiveness of their internal controls. The success of MPS Monitor’s SOC 2 Type 1 examination highlights its ongoing commitment to the security, availability and confidentiality of customer data.”
MPS Monitor will make its SOC 2 Type 1 Report available immediately to current or potential customers through authentication to its Portal and upon e-signature of a specific non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
Dealers and customers can now access MPS Monitor 2.0 Web Portal using their organization’s credentials, thanks to Okta Identity integration
Milan (Italy), March 24th, 2021 – MPS Monitor®, the developer of the leading platform for the remote monitoring and management of printers and multifunctional devices, has announced the integration of its SaaS platform with Okta, the leading independent identity provider. Okta Identity integration provides Single Sign-On (SSO) access to authenticate users on the MPS Monitor 2.0 Portal. The integration is available to all MPS Monitor 2.0 users worldwide.
MPS Monitor’s Okta integration ensures maximum security and ease of access to the SaaS platform to managed print services providers and customers. Users can now access the platform using their company account credentials, which minimize the time of creating and maintaining dedicated logins and passwords for each specific SaaS web application.
Okta Identity integration enables users to sign in across domains with a single online “identity.” It works seamlessly in the background by delivering authentication details from the user’s organization credentials to the MPS Monitor SaaS service in a secure and private fashion. This helps to save time and money not only simplifying the user experience but also significantly increases the security profile of the platform by preventing the use of insecure or weak credentials.
Customers relying on Microsoft Active Directory (or on Azure AD) for their identity infrastructure can connect MPS Monitor to their Active Directory domain using the Okta integration to reach a complete SSO experience. Even if they do not currently use Okta Identity technology, customers and dealers can easily activate the integration using the free Okta Cloud Connect service for MPS Monitor using this link: https://www.okta.com/mps-monitor/
For current Okta customers, all SSO integration benefits are available in MPS Monitor all through the standard Okta Integration Network OIDC App, which is available to licensed Okta customers from this page: https://www.okta.com/integrations/mps-monitor/
“Our holistic approach to Print Security involves, among all, other critical factors, a secure approach to user authentication for SaaS cloud applications. The current and most common practice of assigning a specific set of credentials for each user to each SaaS service does not meet the most demanding security requirements for user identity and credentials safety. This is especially true with the new Work From Home environment, where business users work from Zero-Trust home networks most of the time. Partnering with Okta to create a deep integration between our SaaS application and the customer’s secure identity infrastructure provides an additional and important step to ensuring full and comprehensive compliance with the most rigid security standards and requirements. We are also very happy to grant our customers free access to Okta technology through the Okta Cloud Connect program so that all of them can benefit from this integration, even if they are not yet Okta subscribers.” says Nicola De Blasi, CEO of MPS Monitor.
“At Okta, we’re on a mission to enable every organization to seamlessly and securely use any technology,” said Ernesto Di Mauro, Territory Manager at Okta. “By bringing together industry leaders in identity and access management as well remote monitoring and management for office printing devices, we are able to increase the security and usability of MSP Monitor’s SaaS services to their global users. The integration of MSP Monitor with the Okta Identity Cloud enables organizations to access the MPS Monitor SaaS platform through a fully secure Single Sign-On process using their company account.”

Dealers can now remotely monitor and manage all supported HP Future Smart devices without installing any DCA on the customer’s network
MPS Monitor®, the company that develops and distributes the leading platform for the remote monitoring and management of printers and multifunctional devices, announces the native integration of the newest HP technology, the SDS Cloud DCA. This feature allows HP devices running Future Smart firmware (version 4.9.0.1 or later) to connect and interact with the cloud without the need for any on-premises connector or other local components. The integration is immediately available to all MPS Monitor 2.0 users worldwide.
MPS Monitor’s Cloud DCA integration ensures to Managed Print Services Providers maximum reliability and service continuity for their customers, as HP devices with supported Future Smart firmware are permanently connected with the cloud, regardless of the presence of a DCA on the customer’s network. By activating the HP SDS Cloud DCA, dealers can monitor and manage their customers’ supported devices remotely and comprehensively, lightening all constraints and operational costs of installing and maintaining DCAs.
HP Partners and Resellers can now eliminate inefficiencies in their service processes, providing customers the benefit of all the SDS platform’s advanced capabilities: meter reading, consumable levels, alert management, device reboot, firmware upgrade, remote EWS access, service requests, security policies, remote configuration, and more.
DCAs, even if clustered, can become a point of failure for the entire Remote Monitoring and Management infrastructure. When a DCA is down, the Dealer does not receive data on meters and consumables. As a consequence, invoicing of pages and supplies shipments are impacted. Moreover, remote service and maintenance operations are not available in the absence of a valid and active local connector. A simple PC or Server shutdown, or maintenance may negatively affect an entire Managed Print Service engagement and create customer dissatisfaction.
Through HP SDS Cloud DCA, devices exchange data continuously with the cloud, without any external interference due to on-premises component failures. Dealers can take advantage of the continuous availability of all the SDS platform’s advanced capabilities, while reducing their Managed Print Services operations costs.
HP SDS Cloud DCA can be activated easily in the MPS Monitor Portal for all managed HP Future Smart Devices having Internet access and running Future Smart Firmware version 4.9.0.1 or later. It also supports a mixed environment, where in the same customer is present one or more on-premises MPS Monitor DCA connectors. If the on-premises connector fails or is deactivated, the devices connected to HP SDS Cloud DCA will continue to be monitored and managed in the same way and with no interruption.
