MPS Monitor announces full integration of HP SDS Cloud DCA into the leading Device Management platform

Dealers can now remotely monitor and manage all supported HP Future Smart devices without installing any DCA on the customer’s network

MPS Monitor®, the company that develops and distributes the leading platform for the remote monitoring and management of printers and multifunctional devices, announces the native integration of the newest HP technology, the SDS Cloud DCA. This feature allows HP devices running Future Smart firmware (version 4.9.0.1 or later) to connect and interact with the cloud without the need for any on-premises connector or other local components. The integration is immediately available to all MPS Monitor 2.0 users worldwide.

MPS Monitor’s Cloud DCA integration ensures to Managed Print Services Providers maximum reliability and service continuity for their customers, as HP devices with supported Future Smart firmware are permanently connected with the cloud, regardless of the presence of a DCA on the customer’s network. By activating the HP SDS Cloud DCA, dealers can monitor and manage their customers’ supported devices remotely and comprehensively, lightening all constraints and operational costs of installing and maintaining DCAs.

HP Partners and Resellers can now eliminate inefficiencies in their service processes, providing customers the benefit of all the SDS platform’s advanced capabilities: meter reading, consumable levels, alert management, device reboot, firmware upgrade, remote EWS access, service requests, security policies, remote configuration, and more.

DCAs, even if clustered, can become a point of failure for the entire Remote Monitoring and Management infrastructure. When a DCA is down, the Dealer does not receive data on meters and consumables. As a consequence, invoicing of pages and supplies shipments are impacted. Moreover, remote service and maintenance operations are not available in the absence of a valid and active local connector. A simple PC or Server shutdown, or maintenance may negatively affect an entire Managed Print Service engagement and create customer dissatisfaction.

Through HP SDS Cloud DCA, devices exchange data continuously with the cloud, without any external interference due to on-premises component failures. Dealers can take advantage of the continuous availability of all the SDS platform’s advanced capabilities, while reducing their Managed Print Services operations costs.

HP SDS Cloud DCA can be activated easily in the MPS Monitor Portal for all managed HP Future Smart Devices having Internet access and running Future Smart Firmware version 4.9.0.1 or later. It also supports a mixed environment, where in the same customer is present one or more on-premises MPS Monitor DCA connectors. If the on-premises connector fails or is deactivated, the devices connected to HP SDS Cloud DCA will continue to be monitored and managed in the same way and with no interruption.

New Feature announcement: HP SDS Cloud DCA

Today we announce the integration of HP SDS Cloud DCA: an innovative and revolutionary approach to Remote Monitoring and Management of HP devices.

MPS Monitor now allows to monitor and manage any networked HP FutureSmart Device, without installing and maintaining a DCA on the customer’s network.

The platform integrates natively the newest HP technology of Cloud DCA. It allows HP devices to connect and interact with the cloud without the need of any on-premises connector, or another local component. By configuring supported devices to directly connect to the HP Cloud, a dealer can reduce the cost of providing MPS services to a customer while maintaining the advanced capabilities of the SDS platform.

Cloud DCA enables users to monitor and manage supported HP devices in a full and comprehensive way: meter reading, consumables level, alerts management, plus all the SDS functionalities are available. Device reboot, Firmware upgrade, Remote EWS access, Service requests, and all other powerful SDS features can be accessed in a fast and easy way in the MPS Monitor Portal, regardless of the presence of a DCA on the customer’s network.

Dealers and HP partners can now manage their devices remotely without the burden and cost of installing and maintaining DCAs, which are often a big source of inefficiency and operational cost for them. Even if the DCAs are clustered, they can always become a point of failure for the entire Remote Monitoring and Management infrastructure: when a DCA is down, the dealer does not receive data on meters and consumables, thus invoicing of pages and shipping of needed supplies are impacted. Remote service and maintenance operations are not available in absence of a valid and active SDS Windows connector, so a simple PC / Server shutdown or maintenance performed by a customer may negatively affect an entire Managed Print Service environment and create disservice and dissatisfaction toward the MPS provider.

Using the Cloud DCA, there is no more risk of downtime and disservice, as the devices are permanently connected with the cloud and exchange data in a continuous and fully reliable way, without any external interference due to on-premises component not working.

Cloud DCA can be activated on all HP Future Smart Devices with Internet access and a Firmware version of 4.9.x or later.

It is also supported in a mixed environment, where on the same customer are present one or more on-premises MPS Monitor DCA connectors. If the on-premises connector fails or is deactivated, the printers with Cloud DCA will continue to be monitored and managed in the same way and with no interruption.

To activate the Cloud DCA on your customers, please choose a Customer, go to the Device page and follow the procedure described in the “Onboarding HP Devices using HP Cloud DCA” page:

For any information on the HP Cloud DCA, please refer to your Oberon Americas support team, or write an email to Support@OberonAmericas.com

MPS Monitor announces integration with Universal Print in Microsoft 365

Dealers and Managed Print Services providers using MPS Monitor can now help customers move their print infrastructure to the Microsoft 365 cloud and have all their print fleet managed by a single SaaS platform.

Milan, 19 November 2020 – MPS Monitor®, a worldwide leader in Remote Monitoring and Management of printers and multifunction devices, announces today the integration of Universal Print by Microsoft inside the MPS Monitor 2.0 SaaS platform.

On July 21, 2020, Microsoft announced the public preview of Universal Print, the Microsoft 365-powered, cloud-based print solution that moves key Windows Server print functionality to the Microsoft 365 cloud. It allows print processes to no longer rely on on-premises print servers and frees up users from installing printer drivers on devices. Universal Print adds critical functionality such as security groups for printer access, location-based printer discovery, and a comprehensive administrator experience.

Thanks to the integration of Universal Print within MPS Monitor, Dealers and Managed Print Services providers using the MPS Monitor fleet management platform can activate directly from MPS Monitor all Universal Print functionalities. Customers using Microsoft 365 can easily access Universal Print. MPS Monitor can enable automatic registration of monitored devices in Universal Print and activation of Print Policies, Print Queues, and Pull Printing.

MPS Monitor automatically syncs with Microsoft Azure Active Directory to activate the Universal Print service for each selected customer. Once the service is active for a customer, the MPS Monitor DCA is automatically enabled to work as a Universal Print Connector, avoiding the need to install any additional software or hardware components on the customer’s network.

Microsoft Power BI Embedded Analytics tools integrate all print job information coming from Universal Print into MPS Monitor, joined with existing devices’ data, to provide a full and comprehensive view of print costs, usage patterns, and predictive analytics.

From a security perspective, the integration of MPS Monitor and Universal Print enables printing from zero-trust networks via single sign-on (SSO). Universal Print stores all print queues in Office data storage, where customer’s Microsoft 365 mailboxes and OneDrive files are also stored. All the data in transit to and from Universal Print is encrypted using SSL (https) with TLS 1.2.

With this integration, Dealers and Managed Print Services providers can provide their Microsoft 365 customers with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM), User Management, Job tracking, Rule-based Printing, and Pull Printing functionalities, all in one single, integrated and fully secure SaaS service.

“In the current scenario, companies all over the world are called to ensure their IT services to dispersed users in work from home (WFH) environments, including secure printing for these users wherever they are. This makes moving all print-related processes to the Cloud more compelling for organizations and MPS Providers”, says Nicola De Blasi, CEO of MPS Monitor Srl. “We are very proud to join Universal Print Partner Program, and to provide to our customers the opportunity to have a single, easy-to-implement and fully-integrated solution that fulfils most of their fleet and user management needs within their MPS engagements,” closes De Blasi.

”We are collaborating with partners across our ecosystem to build advanced functionality for Universal Print. As a part of this effort, we are very pleased to be working with MPS Monitor to help our mutual customers to monitor the MFP devices they are registering in Universal Print. MPS Monitor also provides our customers with additional flexibility and insight when they apply Microsoft Power BI to their print environment,” said Issa Khoury, lead program manager for Universal Print at Microsoft.

MPS Monitor 2.0 earns the BLI Security Validation Testing seal for Policy Compliance from Keypoint Intelligence-Buyers Lab

The platform is among the first remote monitoring solutions worldwide to pass the neutral third-party security testing benchmark program that standardizes the requirements for output device and office IoT (Internet of Things) security.

Milan, 29 September 2020 – MPS Monitor®, a worldwide leader in Remote Monitoring and Management of printers and multifunction devices, is proud to announce that its MPS Monitor 2.0 platform is among the first to pass the Key point Intelligence-Buyers Lab (BLI) Printer & MFP Security Validation Testing for Policy Compliance, earning the BLI Policy Compliance seal. This acknowledgment applies to the tested software solution for the period commencing July 31, 2020 and ending August 1, 2022.

The BLI Security Validation Testing – Policy Compliance protocol includes a combination of hands-on testing by Key point Intelligence software technicians and real-time observation of demonstrated functionality by those technicians in conjunction with MPS Monitor personnel. As part of the testing protocol, Key point Intelligence technicians employ the OEMs’ management tools to specify desired security settings and save those settings as a “policy” template, apply the policy across a fleet to ensure that devices are in compliance, monitor those settings on an ongoing basis, automatically remediate devices that fall out of compliance, and more.

Key point Intelligence analysts confirmed the claimed features and effectiveness of the MPS Monitor 2.0 platform in satisfying the test methodology criteria, when used to manage HP Inc. printers and MFPs fully supported by the HP SDS platform:

  • Discover and highlight at-risk firmware (that is, out-of-date firmware with known and/or likely vulnerabilities) that are still in use on devices.
  • Provide fleet-scalable, secure firmware update capability.
  • Ensure a customer’s devices are secured to a vendor’s and/or customer’s recommended settings (via templates, policies, or similar mechanism)
  • Provide a method to discover out-of-compliance devices
  • Generate a report (or dashboard view) showing at-risk devices
  • Provide a way to automatically apply the desired settings to bring devices back into compliance
  • Provide on-going checks to ensure the devices are still in compliance with the recommended settings
  • Automatically detect newly connected but un-configured device(s) attached to the network and automatically apply the policy designated by the administrator for new devices.

The BLI Security Validation Testing program establishes industry-standard benchmarks in the areas of Device Penetration, Policy Compliance, and Firmware Resilience. Administered by Key point Intelligence-Buyers Lab, long recognized as the independent source for test data for the office equipment industry, the cornerstone of the program is hands-on testing conducted by Key point Intelligence in concert with accredited security testing firms.

The full BLI Security Validation Testing Report for MPS Monitor 2.0 can be downloaded at this link.

“For the last decade, MPS Monitor has been providing top-quality fleet monitoring, meters management and consumable logistics on a cloud-based platform to worldwide dealers”, says Nicola De Blasi, CEO of MPS Monitor Srl. “We’ve been working seamlessly to guarantee our solution to be at the forefront of security and privacy issues: earning the BLI Printer & MFP Security Validation Testing seal for Policy Compliance is now a further proof of the high standard we deliver to the whole printing industry. This is especially important in this critical moment, when cybercrime is taking advantage of the current situation of uncertainty, while most businesses are in need to increase the their security defences, both inside the company and in Work From Home environments”, closes De Blasi.
